FIELD: experimental aerodynamics and hydrodynamics, in particular, optical methods for studying structure of gas or liquid flow on surface of objects, possible usage for visualizing flow of gas or liquid on the surface of mobile objects.
SUBSTANCE: method includes applying a set of optically discernible markers rigidly connected to given surface onto object surface being studied. Then object surface being studied is covered in a layer of viscous liquid, containing optical alien, hard particles, non-soluble in viscous liquid. Markers and hard particles should be optical discernible, for example, by size, shape, color, etc. under effect from external stream, particles move together with viscous liquid, without changing their state and leaving no tracks. During required mode of gas or liquid stream, two or more serial hard particle distribution images are registered on object surface being researched, and images of a set of markers are registered on similar or different frames. Movement parameters of hard particles are determined while analyzing registered series of images. Markers are used to additionally determine movement parameters of object as a whole and movement parameters of hard particles for movement of object as a whole are compensated, thus restoring movement parameters of viscous liquid on the surface of object. Pattern of flow of gas or liquid on the surface of mobile object is restored from viscous liquid movement parameters.
EFFECT: possible usage of visualization method for researching mobile objects while decreasing resources and time needed to perform full cycle of object research.
