SUBSTANCE: method for extinguishing fires of batteries and compartments with them when used in the field of transportation using an autonomous automatic gas fire extinguishing installation, while a non-conductive gas fire extinguishing agent is used as a fire extinguishing agent, i.e. a halocarbon in the liquid phase under saturated vapor pressure under normal conditions, with its subsequent displacement from the storage tank by means of inert gases obtained as a result of the operation of a gas-generating pyrotechnic charge, due to an increase in pressure in the storage tank, as a result of which the gas composition occupies the entire volume of the protected compartment and an atmosphere that prevents the possibility of re-ignition is created.
EFFECT: effective extinguishing and re-ignition prevention.
