FIELD: measuring equipment.

SUBSTANCE: sensor comprises a winding and an open core made of a set of insulated plates made of a material with a high value of relative magnetic permeability, wherein the winding performs the functions of excitation and measurement, the working element moves across the winding with the core located transversely to the movement of the working element, the working element can be made both of a soft magnetic material and a paramagnetic material, and the sensor can be placed in a closed metal non-magnetic body.

EFFECT: structural simplification, increase in reliability, and expanded scope of functional capabilities of the sensor.
