FIELD: navigation.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to navigation in ice conditions, in particular to submarines that destroy the ice cover with resonant flexural gravity waves. A method is proposed for destroying the ice cover by an underwater vessel by excitation of resonant bending-gravity waves in the ice, while under the first wave crest behind the stern of the vessel, a body with positive buoyancy is placed and towed at the speed of the vessel. In the process of towing the body, the length of the towing cable is periodically changed with the frequency of resonant flexural-gravitational waves for a time equal to half of their period. By changing the length of the cable, the body is informed of displacements within half the length of resonant flexural-gravity waves.
EFFECT: increasing the efficiency of ice cover destruction.
