FIELD: veterinary medicine.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to veterinary surgery. Orthopaedic bone distractor for animals comprises a horizontal screw with fine pitch of a metric thread along the entire length thereof; provided at one end whereof is a rotating wire holder secured with a lock nut, and another wire holder moving along the screw has rectilinear movement by means of the screw nut. Butterfly screws are provided on the holders for securing the wires. The edges of the distractor are blunted and rounded, thus providing a possibility to avoid trauma of soft tissues.

EFFECT: possibility of measurably in doses, gradually, and controllably stretching a proximal and distal bone fragment to the required distance in a set direction, creating a significant physical load greater than 39 kg/cm2, or approximately 400 kg.
