FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to medicine, namely, to ophthalmology. Proposed is a collagen membrane for reconstructing the cornea, constituting a collagen hydrogel containing a native type I collagen, wherein the content of native type I collagen is from 5 to 20% wt. of the total weight of the collagen hydrogel, and wherein said artificial cornea is characterised by a maximum tensile load of above 20 N.
EFFECT: collagen membrane for reconstructing the cornea according to the invention is biocompatible, non-immunogenic, optically transparent and strong, is made of a highly purified biological material without applying chemical modification, and is suitable for implantation into the human body for the purpose of improving and/or restoring the anatomical and functional characteristics of the cornea of the eye.
