SUBSTANCE: invention relates to medicine, in particular, to radionuclide diagnostics, dentistry, radiography, and can be used for measuring the mandibular optical density in patients with cancer based on positron emission tomography images (PET-CT scans). The upper edge of the mental foramen and the plane of transition of the mental foramen into the mandibular canal are found on PET-CT scans in the axial section on the mandible. Rounded sections of bone tissue are isolated in the projection of the roots of the central incisors and the roots of premolars with an area of 0.6 to 1.2 cm2 in the plane of transition of the mental foramen into the mandibular canal, wherein the optical density of the mandible is measured in said sections.

EFFECT: prompt location of the area for densitometry on the mandible due to the claimed algorithm for PET-CT.
