SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the control of a rolling mill for rolling rolled products. The rolling mill contains several rolling stands, through which a rolled product passes alternately. A control device determines a corresponding preliminary adjusting value for preceding rolling stands by corresponding frequency filtration of the specified characteristic value. The determination of the corresponding preliminary adjusting value for preceding rolling stands always includes only frequency components of the characteristic value, which lie below a corresponding boundary frequency. The boundary frequency from one rolling stand to another rolling stand always remains constant or increases. The control device determines the preliminary adjusting value for a certain rolling stand in such a way that the determination of the preliminary adjusting value for a certain rolling stand includes at least those frequency components of the characteristic value that lie above the boundary frequency of the rolling stand immediately preceding a certain rolling stand.
EFFECT: flatness errors in inter-stand areas are excluded.
