FIELD: automotive industry.
SUBSTANCE: method for identifying the maximum values of the coefficients of sliding friction of the wheels of the vehicle contains operations on which the pulses generated by the wheel speed sensors are registered, which are used as sensors of primary information about physical variables characterizing the state of the wheels of the vehicle, and fed to the input of the information processing unit. In the information block, based on the values of the wheel rotation frequencies, the maximum values of the coefficients of sliding friction of the wheels are determined in real time as a result of solving the inverse problem of piecewise linear approximation of the dependence of the coefficients of sliding friction on sliding, parametrically related to the maximum value of the coefficient of sliding friction in all areas of the approximation. At the output of the information processing unit, a signal is generated with information on the maximum values of the coefficients of sliding friction of the wheels and transmitted to the means of visual display of information and to external traffic control units of the vehicle for use as input data to ensure safe control of traction, brakes and steering.
EFFECT: indirect measurement of the maximum values of the coefficients of sliding friction of the wheels.
