SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method for operation of a logic circuit, a set of logic circuits for the association with a replaceable component of a printing apparatus, and a replaceable cartridge of a printing apparatus for the connection to the printing apparatus. In the method, in response to a first command sent to the address of the logic circuit associated with a replaceable component of a printing apparatus via a serial data bus, wherein the first command indicates a first period of time, said logic circuit is used to generate a low-voltage condition on the serial data bus for a first duration based on the first period of time; and, in response to another first command sent to the same address of the same logic circuit via the serial data bus at a different point of time, wherein said other first command indicates a second period of time other than the first period of time, said logic circuit is used to generate a low-voltage condition on the serial data bus for a different duration, respectively, based on the second period of time.

EFFECT: possibility of controlling the voltage on a serial bus.
