FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to powder metallurgy, in particular, to methods for producing electrodes for electric-spark alloying. Invention can be applied in various industries to apply hard and wear-resistant protective coatings on parts of machines for various purposes. In order to manufacture an electrode based on the composite material TiB2-Co2B, an exothermal mixture containing 13.8 to 27.6 wt.% titanium, 55.2 to 73.6 wt.% cobalt, and 12.6 to 17.2 wt.% boron is prepared, and cylindrical workpieces with a relative density of 0.45 to 0.8 are pressed. The combustion products resulting from the combustion reaction are extruded through a die with a diameter of 1 to 5 mm, forming an electrode.
EFFECT: production of electrodes with high operating characteristics.
