SUBSTANCE: invention relates to optically variable elements. Optical protective element comprises magnetically oriented flakes positioned in a helicoidal or double-helicoidal relative arrangement, while at least part of the substrate includes a first area and a second area, wherein the first area of the substrate constitutes a longitudinal row of magnetically oriented flakes with a first dihedral angle and the second area of the substrate constitutes another longitudinal row of magnetically oriented flat flakes with a second dihedral angle.
EFFECT: orientation of the magnetically oriented flakes in a carrier with set orientation and values of the dihedral angles.
