SUBSTANCE: computer system for optimizing the selection of nodes and edges in the digital model of the graph accesses the digital model of the graph of the physical location of the warehouse. The computer system identifies a set of orders, each containing one or more items, and an order priority. The computer system then maps each item in each order selected from the set of orders to a plurality of nodes in a digital graph model. The computer system then traverses along one or more edges that extend from the ranking node to identify the shortest path in the digital graph model to populate the digital model of the picking cart above the packing threshold level.
