FIELD: ventilation.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to systems and methods for the ventilation of the fuel system of an engine. In at least one example, the fuel system comprises a fuel tank linked with a vapour capturing tank by means of the main pipeline. The ventilation system comprises an electrically-driven ventilation adjusting valve, multiple sensors, and a control unit linked with the sensors and the electrically-driven ventilation adjusting valve. The ventilation adjusting valve is configured to be installed in the main pipeline to ensure the possibility of selective opening or closure of the fluid communication between the fuel tank and the vapour capturing tank. The multiple sensors are configured to provide data indicating the conditions in relation to the tank. The control unit is configured to control the electrically-driven ventilation adjusting valve to open or close the fluid communication based on first predetermined criteria. The first predetermined criteria include the minimisation of the risk of liquid carry-over (LCO) from the fuel tank to the vapour capturing tank. Also proposed is the corresponding method.
EFFECT: operating effectiveness of the engine is increased.
