FIELD: technological processes.
SUBSTANCE: invention can be used in the internal combustion engines fuel supply systems. Method can include: location of pressure control valve (PCV) 286 near fuel rail outlet 270; arrangement of volume control valve (VCV) 282 near high-pressure pump inlet 280; and, in response to deviation of the amount of particulate matter PM (PM) in the engine exhaust gases from the target PM amount (PM), controlling the amount of oxygen in the fuel, by adjusting the fuel ratio of the first fuel type and the second fuel type supplied to the engine from the first type fuel tank 210 and the first type fuel tank 250, and opening PCV 286 or VCV 282. Thus, oxygen content in fuel can be adjusted to maintain the amount of PM (PM) at target level or below it without DPF (DPF) in a wide range of configurations and engine operating conditions while maintaining fuel economy.
EFFECT: method and system are proposed to reduce emissions of particulate matter.
