FIELD: engines and pumps.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to leaks detection of in the vehicle fuel system. The method of vehicle fuel system operation during leakage testing includes test interruption in case of detection of unintended temporary closing of the valve connected to the fuel tank. For another method option, the purge valve is opened to create vacuum in the fuel tank. In the event of pressure deviation during the first vacuum build-up, the valve is closed and fuel tank pressure is equalized without leakage analysis. In the absence of pressure deviations during the second vacuum build-up, the purge valve is closed and the second vacuum decline is analyzed for leaks immediately after the second vacuum build-up.
EFFECT: reduced probability of false leak detection.
