FIELD: shipbuilding.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of shipbuilding and can be used in estimating the strength of vessel hulls during operation. Monitoring of the overall strength of the hull of a vessel during operation, based on determining the bending moment in hull of the vessel in conditions of the fore end being captured in a wave. The aft end of the hull of the vessel is considered as a beam loaded only with a weight load with account for the inertial forces. For not fully emergent theoretical spacings, the buoyancy forces acting thereon are taken into account. In order determine the emergent length of the hull of the vessel, the parameters of the seaway are measured and predicted, and the motion of the vessel is on this seaway modelled with account for the possibility of the fore end being captured in a wave. The actual residual moment of resistance of the cross sections of the hull of the vessel is determined based on the results of measuring the residual thicknesses.
EFFECT: safety of marine navigation is increased.
