FIELD: rotary piston engines.
SUBSTANCE: invention can be used in Wankel rotary piston engines. The method for operation of an internal combustion engine (ICE) of the Wankel type with external carburetion and forced ignition consists in setting the parameters of the ignition advance angle (IAA) and the excess air coefficient α using an electronic control unit. The internal combustion engine is operated on heavy fuel while observing the parameter of the geometric compression ratio (GCR) - from 6 to 10 units and the parameters of the IAA - from 0 to 40 degrees of rotation of the eccentric shaft to the top dead center, α - from 0.8 to 1.1. When the GCR is more than 9 units, the parameter of the angle of the end of the intake stroke is additionally observed from 66 to 90 degrees of rotation of the eccentric shaft after the bottom dead center. An internal combustion engine of the Wankel type with external mixture formation and forced ignition is disclosed.
EFFECT: exclusion of premature self-ignition during compression of a mixture of heavy fuel with air in a rotary-piston internal combustion engine with external mixture formation and forced ignition.
