FIELD: mechanical engineering; piston engines of diesel type. SUBSTANCE: mixture is formed during intake and compression strokes in additional cylinder at low values of air excess coefficient with subsequent forcing fuel-air mixture into combustion chamber of main cylinder charged with compressed air. Thanks to it duration of mixing process is increased considerably (to 300-320 degrees in crank angle) and engine can operate at reduced value of air excess coefficient at full load (0.9-1.0) and up to 2.5 at partial loads. EFFECT: improved mixing and combustion processes, increased liter capacity of compression ignition internal combustion engine. 3 cl, 3 dwg
