FIELD: mechanical engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to mechanical engineering and can be used at the enterprises of the metalworking industry to assess the performance of grinding wheels when grinding under specific conditions on the selected equipment and processing mode. Alternate testing of grinding wheels is carried out, consisting of installing a grinding wheel on the faceplate of the grinding head, installing a dressing tool on the machine table, dressing the wheel, installing a sample on the machine table at an angle to the direction of longitudinal feed, grinding the sample and selecting a criterion by which the performance of the grinding wheels is determined. The length of the polished surface of the sample is calculated by the formula
where L is the length of the sample surface to be ground; t is the selected grinding depth from the line of intersection of the ground surface with the end one, while the mentioned line is located at the greatest distance from the surface of the machine table perpendicular to the direction of the longitudinal feed, α is the installation angle of the sample surface to be ground to the direction of the longitudinal feed. The sample is ground to the selected depth, and the ratio of the length of the ground surface to the selected grinding depth is used as a criterion characterizing the assessment of the performance of the grinding wheels.
EFFECT: expanding the technical capabilities of the method and simplifying its implementation.
