FIELD: systems of automated design of operation of depth surface grinding by wheel periphery, calculation of resistance of grinding wheel and roughness of machined surface. SUBSTANCE: sample anchored on plate of surface grinding machine is divided into three sections over its length. First section is ground at minimal rate of longitudinal feed of machine, second section is ground at rate of longitudinal feed of machine corresponding to machining condition with preset depth of cutting. After this height of sample is measured on each of three sections and radial component of cutting force Py is calculated by mathematical dependence , Where H1,H2,H3 are heights of sample correspondingly of first and second sections after grinding and of third ungrounded section; j is rigidity of surface grinding machine; D is outer diameter of grinding wheel; Ky is angular coefficient equal to 57.3248 deg.
