FIELD: mechanical engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of machine processing and can be used to fix workpieces, mainly of low rigidity and with large shape errors during their processing. The method includes basing the workpiece on a flat plate of a machine tool with contact of the support surface of the workpiece in the form of its bottom with the plate and pressing the workpiece to the plate by means of clamps, while a rigid prismatic insert is pre-installed in the workpiece, and pressing the workpiece to the plate is carried out by applying clamps to the unclosed upper surface of the workpiece with the transfer of force in the form of a distributed force through the mentioned insert to the bottom of the workpiece and ensuring that the bottom is pressed against the plane of the plate of the machine tool, which is used as the base plane.
EFFECT: use of the invention makes it possible to increase the accuracy of basing workpieces of low rigidity when they are fixed and, accordingly, the accuracy of their processing.
