METHOD FOR DETERMINATION OF REHABILITATION POTENTIAL IN YOUNG CHILDREN WITH PERINATAL BRAIN DAMAGE Russian patent published in 2022 - IPC A61B5/00

Abstract RU 2782296 C2

FIELD: medicine; neurology; pediatrics; physical and rehabilitation medicine.

SUBSTANCE: neurosonography and assessment of the fundus condition are performed, a psychoneurological development profile, muscular strength and tonus are assessed, child’s weight is assessed, a respiration rate, clinical signs of dyspnea, and the need for oxygen are determined. In accordance with obtained data, a biological rehabilitation sub-potential is determined. Next, mobility, learning, self-serving, and communication are determined based on an international functioning classification. In accordance with obtained data, a social rehabilitation sub-potential is determined. Treatment attendance, starting date of rehabilitation, execution of doctor’s prescriptions, mother’s age, financial situation, housing conditions, and presence of barriers are assessed in accordance with the international functioning classification. In accordance with obtained data, an environmental rehabilitation sub-potential is determined. A rehabilitation potential (hereinafter – RP) is determined as the sum of biological, social, and environmental rehabilitation sub-potentials. RP is defined as normal RP with 0-2 points, high RP with 3-16 points, medium RP with 17-33 points, low RP with 34-65 points, extremely low RP with 66-68 points. At the same time, with high and medium RP, the child is directed to medical rehabilitation. With low RP, the child is directed to social and medical rehabilitation. With extremely low RP, the child is provided with palliative care.

EFFECT: method allows for determination of a rehabilitation potential of young children with perinatal brain damage due to assessment of a complex of the most significant indicators.
