METHOD FOR CALCULATING THE REHABILITATION POTENTIAL OF CHILDREN AFTER SPINAL CORD INJURY Russian patent published in 2021 - IPC A61B5/22 A61B5/08 A61B5/85 A61B5/107

Abstract RU 2755455 C1

FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to medicine, pediatrics, neurology, restorative medicine and can be used to determine the rehabilitation potential (RP) in children with spinal cord injury (SCI). First, the level of damage is determined in points according to Table 1, from the description, then the severity of disorders on the ASIA scale in points, secondary complications are estimated by the number from 0 to 10, psychological assessment of anxiety is carried out on the basis of the Spielberg-Khanin scale, depression according to HADS; tolerance to physical activity is determined on the basis of ergospirometry by conducting a four-stage test; the degree of independence assessment in case of spinal cord injury is carried out according to the SCIM III scale; parental participation according to the tests “Strategies of family education” and “Questionnaire of parental attitude”; personal factors based on the assessment of the locus of control of RP are determined by the sum of the points received. A high RP (1-10 points) implies the possibility of achieving full recovery and full integration into the social environment. Average RP (11-20 points) involves incomplete recovery or compensation with pronounced manifestations of functional impairment, a partial decrease in the level and quality of life, the performance of basic activities in a limited volume. Low RP (21-30 points) is noted with a pronounced violation of functions, unrealized compensatory mechanisms, severe deprivation of rehabilitation, children have no possibility of learning and integration into society, they feel the need for constant social assistance and protection. The absence of RP (31-40 points) is noted when the spinal cord is completely damaged above the C4 level, the surviving patients need artificial ventilation and are deprived of the slightest possibility of self-service, they need constant care, constant social assistance and protection.

EFFECT: method provides an increase in the reliability of calculating the level of RP and the prospects for restoring impaired functions, the expediency of prescribing active medical rehabilitation.
