FIELD: testing.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to testing pieces of space equipment, such as hatches and seals of docking units of spacecraft, and is also applicable in other fields of engineering. In the proposed method, a main process cavity (OTP) and an additional TP (DTP) enveloping the first one are formed above the tested element (IE); a controlled vacuum is created in both cavities, and the IE with the OTP and DTP are placed in a vacuum chamber. By a specific order of filling the OTP and DTP to the test pressure with control gas (with an admixture of test gas) and of communication of said cavities with the vacuum chamber and corresponding measurement of the partial pressure of test gas in the chamber, the leakage of seal of the external working section of the IE and the sealing elements between the OTP and DTP, as well as between the DTP and the volume of the vacuum chamber, are determined.
EFFECT: increase in the accuracy and reliability of monitoring the seal tightness of articles and resulting increase in the terms of safe operation thereof.
