FIELD: testing.

SUBSTANCE: product is placed in a vacuum chamber with low-vacuum and high-vacuum pumps. The vacuum chamber is closed. The vacuum chamber is sequentially evacuated by low-vacuum and high-vacuum pumps until a steady equilibrium pressure is reached in it. After vacuum chamber evacuation, the sensitivity value of product tests for total tightness is measured. The measured sensitivity value of product tests for total tightness and the value of the requirement for total tightness of the product are compared. If the value of the requirement for total tightness of the product exceeds the measured value of the sensitivity of product tests for total tightness, the product is filled up with a control gas containing a test gas to the test pressure. After that, the total leakage of the product is measured by increasing the partial pressure of the test gas in the vacuum chamber. If the measured sensitivity value of product tests for total tightness exceeds the value of the requirement for total tightness of the product, the vacuum chamber is evacuated by high-vacuum pumps until a steady equilibrium pressure is reached in it. After that, the sensitivity value of the product tests for total tightness is measured. The product is filled with a test gas containing a test gas up to the test pressure. After that, the total leakage of the product is measured by increasing the partial pressure of the test gas in the vacuum chamber.
