SUBSTANCE: invention relates to medicine, namely, to traumatology and orthopaedics, and can be used to select the strategy of surgical treatment after failed total endoprosthetics of the ankle joint. The geometric parameters of the defects in the tibia and talus are assessed radiologically after the endoprosthesis components have been removed. Herewith, the geometric dimensions of the defects, localisation and mutual positioning thereof in the tibia and talus are determined. The cause of instability of the components of the joint is determined by assessing the presence/absence of an infectious process. Based on the combination of the resulting parameters, a decision is made about the type of bone grafting and the method for securing the pathology area by metal structures.

EFFECT: possibility of increasing the objectivity of decision-making when selecting indications for arthrodesis after a total failure of endoprosthetics of the ankle joint depending on the cause of instability of the components of the endoprosthesis, while ensuring the selection of the applied metal fixator and the type of bone allograft depending on the localisation and mutual positioning of the bone defects in the distal tibia through the combination of techniques of the claimed invention.
