FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to emulsion compositions containing fish oil and medium chain triglycerides (hereinafter – MCT), and/or omega-3 fatty acids and MCT. The emulsion composition contains: fish oil and MCT in a ratio between, but not including, from 30:70 to about 70:30; or omega-3 fatty acids and MCT in a ratio from about 30:70 to about 70:30; wherein the total triglyceride + diglyceride content of fish oil and/or omega-3 fatty acids contains no more than 10% of diglyceride. A method for reduction in the risk of development or treatment of inflammatory reactions includes administration of the emulsion composition to a subject who needs it. A method for reduction in the risk of development or treatment of a liver disease includes administration of the emulsion composition to a subject who needs it. A method for reduction in the risk of development or treatment of inflammatory reactions and a liver disease includes administration of the emulsion composition to a subject who needs it. The use of the emulsion composition for provision of parenteral nutrition to a subject who needs it is also described.

EFFECT: invention allows for obtaining a stable emulsion, which even further reduces the risk of development of inflammatory reactions and/or liver diseases, can improve treatment of a number of patients, for whom normal nutrition is not recommended or is not sufficient.
