FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method for the production of halogenated isoolefin copolymer. In this case, the method includes introduction of polymerizate of unsaturated isoolefin copolymer, where polymerizate contains unsaturated isoolefin monomer and at least one copolymerized unsaturated monomer, which is isoprene, p-methylstyrene, or β-pinene, dissolved in an organic solvent, which is C6 alkane or cycloalkane, into contact with molecular chlorine (Cl2) or molecular bromine (Br2) as a halogenating agent and an aqueous solution of C1-4 organic peracid as an oxidizer to obtain a two-phase reaction medium including an organic phase and an aqueous phase, where organic peracid as the oxidizer is capable of converting halogen-hydrogen into free halogen. At the same time, introduction of polymerizate of unsaturated isoolefin copolymer into contact with the halogenating agent is carried out for 1-60 minutes at a temperature in the range of 20-60°C.
EFFECT: method leads to wider use of halogen even with polymerizate containing significant amount of water and without the use of an emulsifier.
