FIELD: video data processing.
SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to technology for encoding and decoding video data. Proposed is a method for decoding video data, executed in a video decoder. The video decoder comprises a binary arithmetic decoder receiving encoded bits from the bitstream and executing a process of binary arithmetic decoding in order to recover bits from the encoded bits. The method includes the stage of receiving a bitstream of encoded video data, including the current image and at least one syntax element corresponding to the conversion coefficients of the conversion block in the current image. The offset value is then determined based on the output value of a monotone non-decreasing function f(x) applied to the sum (x) of a group of partially reconstructed conversion coefficients. The index of contextual model is also determined based on the sum of said determined offset value and the base value.
EFFECT: increase in the efficiency of encoding/decoding video data.
