FIELD: vehicles.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to current collectors of vehicles. Pantograph system comprises a sliding element, a lever assembly intended to be positioned between the electric vehicle and the sliding element, a primary drive, and an auxiliary drive. The primary drive is configured to act on the lever assembly in order to lift the sliding element from the lower position thereof to a position wherein the sliding element is in contact with the overhead power line. The auxiliary drive is made configured to act on the lever assembly in order to lift the sliding element from the lower position up. Also claimed is a method for using the pantograph system, consisting in using the main drive to lift the sliding element from the lower position thereof to a position wherein the sliding element is in contact with the overhead power line, and using the auxiliary drive to lift the sliding element from the lower position up.

EFFECT: higher reliability of connection between the vehicle and the overhead power line.
