FIELD: non-ferrous metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of non-ferrous metallurgy, namely to the production of fused corundum in electric furnaces, and can be used to obtain various fused materials. Fused electrocorundum is obtained in electric furnaces by melting alumina in furnaces with periodic draining of the electrocorundum melt from the furnace. Melting is divided: the first period of electrocorundum melting is carried out at full power of the furnace, the second melting period is carried out with a decrease in furnace power by 8-18%. The duration of melting of the first period is 43-47%, the second period - 53-57% of the total time of melting electrocorundum.
EFFECT: method allows to increase the productivity of the furnace and reduce power consumption per unit of production.
