FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to medicine, namely, to laboratory diagnostics, internal diseases, and hepatology, and can be used to diagnose non-alcoholic hepatic steatosis in menopausal women. The waist size (WS), body weight and height are measured in the patients in order to calculate the body mass index (BMI). The levels of triglycerides (TG) and low-density lipoproteins (LDL) are determined in the blood serum. The resulting values are used to calculate the hepatic steatosis index (HSI): HSI=-1.4672+0.0096×BMI+0.0151×WS+0.0157×TG+0.1406×LDL. If the HSI value is equal to or greater than 0.5, the presence of non-alcoholic hepatic steatosis is diagnosed in the menopausal women. If HSI is less than 0.5, the absence of non-alcoholic hepatic steatosis is diagnosed.
EFFECT: lower trauma rate, accessibility, and ease of implementation with high sensitivity and specificity due to the biometric measurements, laboratory tests and calculation of HSI.
