FIELD: aqueous mineral slurry preparing.
SUBSTANCE: present invention relates to a process for preparing an aqueous mineral slurry with a dry solids content greater than 40% by weight of a slurry having at least one property selected from: Brookfield viscosity less than 1800 mPa.s, plastic flow stress less than than 80 Pa. The method includes adding at least one polymer (P) with a molecular weight Mw measured by gel permeation chromatography (GPC) in the range from 2000 to 20000 g/mol, obtained by at least one radical reaction polymerization, at a temperature of more than 50°C, of at least one anionic monomer (M) containing at least one polymerizable olefinic unsaturation and at least one carboxylic acid group or one of its salts, in the presence of at least one radical-forming compound. An aqueous mineral suspension is also provided.
EFFECT: invention makes it possible to control the viscosity and plastic flow stress of aqueous mineral suspensions obtained as derivatives from mining in order to facilitate their injection, mixing or movement, and to reduce water consumption.
