SUBSTANCE: invention relates to medicine, namely to ophthalmology. The indications for the treatment of pain syndrome with gabapentin in burning eye syndrome (BES) are determined. Laser confocal microscopy of the cornea is performed, and if the nerve fibers of the cornea are unidirectional, the coefficient of anisotropy of nerve fibers is 1.7 or less, the presence of single macrophages or their absence, and in the presence of nerve fiber neuromas, indications for treatment with gabapentin are determined.
EFFECT: method provides targeted effective treatment of BES with gabapentin.
