FIELD: ferrous metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to ferrous metallurgy and can be used in the processing and disposal of alumina production waste, namely red sludge and sulfate-soda mixture. The charge is mixed, agglomerated, dried. Reduction firing is carried out in the temperature range of 1150-1300 °C for 30-120 minutes using a reducing agent in the form of coke fines in the amount of 200 kg/t of a mixture based on red sludge. The fired material is ground and separated by dry magnetic separation or wet magnetic separation. In this case, the red sludge is mixed with a sulfate-soda mixture at the following ratio of components, wt. %: red sludge 76-87, sulfate-soda mixture 13-24.
EFFECT: present invention enables to increase the degree of iron extraction into the concentrate.
