FIELD: metallurgy, particular, preparation of raw material for metallurgical conversion; applicable in direct iron process. SUBSTANCE: the offered method provides for mixing of complex iron-containing materials with hard reducer, pelletizing, firing, cooling and subsequent magnetic separation. Distinguishing feature of the offered technology is rolling-on of shell from material with melting point equalling not less than 1.1 of melting point of produced pellets effected in two stages. First, pellets are subjected to firing to fully reduce iron at temperature equalling 0.65-0.85 of iron-melting point, and then, they are heated to temperature which is not less than 1.02 of reduced metallic phase. In so doing, average diameter of particles of material of rolling-on shell amounts to 30-75% of average diameter of charge iron-ore particles. EFFECT: higher efficiency. 2 cl, 2 tbl
