SUBSTANCE: invention relates to electrical engineering. The method for determining eddy current losses in the magnetic circuit of a transformer includes three measurements of total losses in the steel of the magnetic circuit by an open-circuit test at temperatures T1, for example, at ambient temperature, T2, for example, at an average between the ambient temperature and a steady operating temperature, and T3, for example, at a steady-state operating temperature. As well as the calculation of eddy current classical and anomalous losses based on the results of three measured losses in the magnetic circuit at temperatures T1, T2, T3 and the value of the temperature coefficient of electrical resistance of the steel of the magnetic circuit plates.

EFFECT: invention provides the possibility of determining eddy current classical and anomalous losses in the magnetic circuit of the transformer at operating temperature based on experiments and calculations without a complex frequency converter.
