SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of electrical engineering and can be used to reduce magnetic losses in transformers and other electrical machines. The method for determining the losses in the magnetic circuit of the transformer consists in measuring, using the no-load experiment, the values of the total losses in the magnetic circuit at three frequencies ƒ1, ƒ2 and ƒ3 and calculating from these values the losses for hysteresis Ph, losses for eddy currents Pe and abnormal losses Pa on frequency ƒ1.

EFFECT: increasing the accuracy of determining the three components of losses in the magnetic circuit based on the results of simple measurements, which will optimize the design and material of the magnetic circuit and more effectively reduce losses in the steel of electrical machines.
