FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to medicine, namely to ophthalmology, and can be used to predict the response to repeated anti-VEGF therapy for choroidal neovascularization (CNV) in patients with age-related macular degeneration. Before and 1 month after the intravitreal administration of the anti-VEGF drug, optical coherence tomography of the macular zone is performed in high resolution mode and image acquisition using the scan averaging function. In a horizontal B-scan passing through the central fovea within 2 mm from the center of the fovea, the number of intraretinal hyperreflective points is determined. With a decrease in their number by more than two times from the initial values, a favorable response to subsequent anti-VEGF therapy is predicted.
EFFECT: invention provides the possibility of choosing a drug adequate to the frequency of subsequent intravitreal injections due to the prediction of response to therapy.
