FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to medicine, namely to ophthalmology, and can be used for differential diagnosis of avascular and vascular serous detachment of the retinal pigment epithelium. Optical coherence tomography of the macular region is performed using the scan averaging function. The nature of RPE detachment, the presence of a hyperreflective layer under RPE, localization of neuroepithelial detachment (ND) relative to the RPE detachment zone in the form of an isosceles triangle with an apex at the level of the inner bordering membrane of the retina, with a bisector drawn from the apex of the triangle through the point of maximum height and lateral RPE detachment are assessed that are tangent to the lateral sides of the RPE detachment. In case of uneven RPE detachment, the presence of a hyperreflective layer under RPE, localization of NE detachment outside the isosceles triangle zone, a vascular form of serous RPE detachment is diagnosed. With uniform RPE detachment, the absence of a hyperreflective layer under RPE, localization of ND within the isosceles triangle zone, an avascular form of serous RPE detachment is diagnosed.
EFFECT: invention enables the choice of tactics for managing patients with various types of RPE detachments due to the declared diagnostic features.
