FIELD: biotechnology.
SUBSTANCE: proposed is a method for identifying a mutation in the first exon of the FAD3A gene, consisting in the TGG triplet being substituted with TGA, and thus, tryptophan being substituted with a termination codon, causing a decrease in the content of linolenic acid in flax seed oil. Method is based on the amplification of a fragment of the FAD3A gene of the test sample and two standards, followed by high resolution melt analysis.
EFFECT: possibility of selecting flax plants with or without the desired mutation of the FAD3A gene in a homozygous state having a certain content of linolenic acid in the oil with high accuracy, starting from the early stages of the selection process.
