FIELD: chemistry.

SUBSTANCE: invention can be used for coloring consumer products. Porous microspheres containing metal oxide are proposed, where microspheres have an average diameter from about 0.5 mcm to about 100 mcm and average porosity from about 0.10 to about 0.80. Porous microspheres have more than one pore population, wherein each has an average pore diameter. Each population has a different average pore diameter, while average pore diameters are from about 50 nm to about 999 nm. An option of porous microspheres and options of compositions useful as structural dyes are also proposed.

EFFECT: inventions allow for obtainment of structural dyes having high stability and environmental friendliness.
