FIELD: railroad engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to determining the location or identification of rolling stock. The system for determining the railroad engine speed and direction of movement contains markers, a location sensor for emitting and receiving reflected signals from markers, a reflected signal processing unit (RSPU), a control and synchronization bus, a communication bus with receivers of speed and direction signals, a satellite navigation system receiver, an electronic cartographic navigation information system. The sensor for emitting and receiving reflected signals from markers is made in the form of a laser rangefinder operating in the near-IR range of 1065 nm. The electronic cartographic navigation information system is connected by its inputs to the outputs of the RSPU and the receiver of the satellite navigation system, respectively, and by its input-output is connected to the on-board computer of the on-board traffic safety system of the railroad engine. The on-board computer is connected with its inputs to the outputs of the RSPU and the receiver of the satellite navigation system. The markers are made in the form of optical corner reflectors with a diffuse reflective effect of at least 80% and are placed on the contact network supports.
EFFECT: increased reliability of measuring the speed of rolling stock.
