FIELD: welding engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to welding engineering, in particular to mechanised arc welding with a fusible electrode in shielding gas. The essence of the invention consists in using successive phases of short circuit and arc discharge between the welded metal and the electrode tip installed in the welding torch to form a molten bath of the welded metal controlled separately by the control unit for current parameters in the short circuit phase and in the arc discharge phase. Invention provides for keeping the temperature of the molten metal in the bath within the specified limits during welding process, while the electrode flight from the tip is kept constant. In the short-circuit phase, the electrical resistance in the electrical circuit between the tip and the molten bathtub is measured at least twice in sequence during the phase. Average the resistance values obtained, then measure the electrical resistance in each successive phase of the short-circuit for a period of 0.5-1.0 seconds. Average the electrical resistance values measured in the short-circuit phases and memorise the averaged value obtained taking it as the reference value, then measure the circuit resistance in each subsequent short-circuit phase and compare it with the reference resistance value. Determine the difference between the compared values and inversely modify the energy input to the electrode in the arc phase until the difference between the compared values is eliminated.
EFFECT: invention provides for increasing weld quality in any spatial position without need for manual adjustment, increasing the welding speed in vertical and overhead positions, and welding joints with larger clearances, for example, over 4 mm.
