FIELD: experimental biology; pharmacology; medicine.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of experimental biology, pharmacology, medicine; it can be used in creation of drugs slowing down the progression of liver cirrhosis of toxic etiology, in addition to basic therapy or separately. The use of an agent, which is oxidized dextran with molecular weight of 40 kDa in the form of an aqueous solution with a concentration of 5.0 wt.%, is proposed for reduction in pathomorphological manifestations of post-toxic liver cirrhosis and its complications.
EFFECT: reduction in content of collagen fibers, number of false lobules in the liver, and volume of ascitic fluid in the abdominal cavity.
