FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to a method for the production of electrorefined copper by electrolysis and to a molten liquid metal composition for casting anodes to implement the specified method. Metal copper electrorefining is carried out in an electrolytic cell with at least one copper anode for at least one copper cathode, using an electrolyte based on sulfuric acid. The anode contains the most of 98.0 wt.% of copper and less than 1.00 wt.% of iron. During electrorefining, the electrolyte is removed from the electrolytic cell with an average electrolyte regeneration speed of at least 30% and at most of 1900% per hour. Gas is introduced into the electrolytic cell, and gas is sparged through the electrolyte in an interval between the anode and the cathode.
EFFECT: reduction in requirements for the quality of source raw materials at previous pyrometallurgical stages to obtain purified copper for its electrorefining, while saving advantages of electrorefining with long cycles of anode replacement, high performance, and low energy consumption.
