FIELD: magnesium stearate production.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the production of magnesium stearate and can be used in the manufacture of medicines, perfumery, cosmetics and food industries. The method includes a two-stage reaction, where the first stage is the reaction of saponification of stearic acid with sodium hydroxide; the second stage is the reaction of sodium stearate and magnesium chloride to form magnesium stearate. The resulting magnesium stearate is washed with distilled water from water-soluble salts and absolute isopropyl alcohol, heated to 50±5°C, from unreacted fatty acids.
EFFECT: invention makes it possible to obtain magnesium stearate with a content of free fatty acids (in terms of stearic acid) of not more than 0.8%.
