SUBSTANCE: following is proposed: a method of producing a ferrite-zinc catalyst by the method of mutual chemical precipitation for the transesterification reaction between triglycerides of carboxylic acids and alcohol in the production of biodiesel fuel, in which pre-calculated amounts of salts: zinc chloride and iron nitrate nine-hydrate or zinc oxide dissolved in 65% nitric acid, and Ferric chloride hexahydrate , containing Zn2+ and Fe3+ ions, in a ratio of 1 to 2, is transferred into solution and a chemical reaction of mutual precipitation of metal ions in the form of hydroxides is initiated by adding sodium alkali while stirring at a speed of 300–400 rpm at room temperature and bringing the solution to a pH of 11, then the resulting suspension is separated by centrifugation at least four times at a speed of 8,500–9,000 rpm for at least 3 minutes, the resulting precipitate is washed with distilled water to a pH of 7 and evaporated at constant stirring, temperature 100°C for 2–3 hours.

EFFECT: production of a catalyst for the transesterification reaction of zinc ferrite with a spinel structure ZnFe2O4 in various crystalline states, synthesized from commercially available zinc salts Zn2+ and Fe3+.
