FIELD: fuel manufacturing.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a technology for manufacturing fuel for high-temperature gas-cooled reactors and relates to a method for applying powder carbon-graphite coatings to spherical fuel particles - microfuel elements (hereinafter referred to as MT). The method for obtaining a graphite coating on spherical MT is that the surface of the MT is preliminarily treated with a suspension, which is graphite powder in bakelite lacquer, dissolved in a mixture of acetone and butyl alcohol. Then, the suspension-treated MTs are mixed with graphite powder and subjected to vibration treatment, during which a graphite layer is formed. The layer obtained after vibration treatment is dried and then the subsequent layer/layers are formed in the same way. In this case, when forming the first coating layer, graphite powder with a particle size of ≤0.05 of the MT diameter is used.
EFFECT: invention makes it possible to obtain a uniform high-quality coating, avoid the formation of agglomerates and sticking of MT to each other, and thereby increase its strength and reduce rejects caused by partial destruction and shedding of the coating during MT overload, and ensure a good yield of 95-96%.
